So, after all the recent leaks and random goings-on, the new iPhone 4 has been officially announced today. Personally, I think it looks awesome and the specs are very impressive. iPhone OS has also been renamed as iOS4. I'll be geting one as close to release as possible. I reckon I'm going for white again. What about you guys?
For fucks sake, forgot about the keynote, so watching the HTML5 video advert on the Apple website, and it's raping my internet connection, only seen 2:39 of the advert so far and it's taken nearly 12 minutes to cache that much. Yeah Steve, Flash is really shit you ignorant twat... Must find the keynote video to see Steve squirm and try to make it sound exciting. Don't get me wrong, this is the closest to wanting an iPhone I have been since I owned the first gen model, but you know they are going to rake you over the coals with this. Also note the carefully worded part where the "FaceTime" (seriously? worse name than Windows Phone 7 Series) only works over WiFi.

QFT. HTML 5 isn't quite ready for primetime just yet. Also I'm fairly certain the Facetime (what a stupid name... almost sounds like someone was play way to much farmville at Apple) wifi limitation will be fixed quickly after iOS4 is jail broken. The gadgetwhore that is me wants me to get one bad... but I just got on with Tmo and the Nexus One. And then there is the removal of unlimited data, that pissed me of to no end. Great device, shitty carrier.
Put it this way, I just streamed the 5 minute iPhone 4 keynote section in HD with Flash in half the time it took in HTML5 for the 5:29 advert. Oh... and I could watch the Flash version full screen...
It instantly makes the 3GS look obselete. This looks amazing, especially the screen. I can't justify the price of the contract to myself. I still love my K750.
Don't worry. In the footur you will be able to watch a 5 minute HTML5 vid in just under 2 minutes. It's gonna be soooo much better than flash
Buy any 8 year old tech 3G phone on pay as you go then. I have a drawer full of them, only used video calling twice, and both times I was drunk.
I'm getting it. Been holding off upgrade for six month to get this. Only thing I was disappointed on was the storage I was expecting 64 gig but I'll have to live with 32 gig. I have to say the new look is really impressive and that screen is apparently the highest resolution in a phone.
Yes, when American telecoms get their heads out of their asses and make the first speed upgrade since broadband was introduced. I will upgrade, because I am cool.
as my carrier does offer in-contract upgrade(?) I may/may not upgrade - provided missus gives ok first... ;( for me the look doesn't do a thing since I put it inside the protective case 24x7 - can't afford without one when my 2 yo handle my iPhone a lot of time and she likes to throw things... ;o
The bigger screen is the main reason I would upgrade. Otherwise, I'm quite happy w/ my 3GS. This one doesn't support 4G, does it?
GaijinPunch/ 4G is still few years away... Personally don't expect 4G being dominant force till mid this decade..
It is in use in a few American cities right now. Honestly though, the speeds sound crap. I've got 7Mb/s mobile internet in a USB stick anywhere I go. Similar speeds on my iPhone.
