That was a mere example using Hawx2, but mind that a game built around this tech would take better advantage of this. Its still a console game so the effects are bolted-on. On Unreal4 dunno know about you but I can clearly see the difference between Samaritan and say GoW or UT3. Granted its a demo so its suppose to do that, but so was the first GoW which was meant to show the Unreal3 engine. Agreed on the 3rd party software, nintendo might go as far as making the Wii2 download-only to get the 30% of every sale like Apple does (and now facebook too).
Agreed, those shots were poor choices. As for any of the next gen consoles being download-only, I seriously doubt it. On a mobile device that's matched intrinsically to a wireless service that is sufficient for the minor bandwidth that such games require (like iPhone) it makes sense. For a next-gen platform that needs many gigabytes of content it does not. Especially not for Nintendo, who target the lowest-tech demographic - physical sales are going to be their bread and butter for a while.
That's a bad example. Think tessellation as the next bump mapping: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkKtY2G3FbU&hd=1 IMO Nintendo should try to garner third-party support while maintaining its strong first-party nature in its interest. Nintendo will be one of the last company to go for a DD only solution because retailers are an ideal distribution way for Nintendo strong brands.
you little bastards probably don't even remember TrueForm by Ati..the original tessalation concept. This stuff isn't new but I m happy it's being used and it's a pleasant way to enhance geometry. That said, the advent of proper raytracing akin to that of the Indigo renderer (using the Light Path technic) will be where I ll throw my hat off to console makers.
They already tried to make their own stores, so I wouldnt call that ideal, besides Miyamoto just said to Edge thats he's looking foward to the eStore, and thats pretty much nintendo's appstore. Again is not that I'm all for DD, just that casuals the people who bought so many Wiis that it outsold PS3 and X360, have no problem with that. So eventually its gonna happen:shrug:
Mine's hooked up, but I only used it to get FFIV:TAY when the last chapter came out. Coincidentally, that was also the last time I turned the thing on...
I've been a busy guy this generation. I ve got a ton of games on all platforms I mean to play before I die someday but I ve been quite happy with all three consoles of this generation to be honest. The wii especially has proven invaluable for group sessions, including female participants.
Meh, how many people had smartphones before the iphone? How many had dataplans? How many downloaded J2ME apps? Even in our area, how many people had LIVE in the Xbox compared to the X360?
If this is true it sucks. I don't want a new console generation. I'm quite happy with my ps3/xbox combo thanks.
Any time live update after release? Does that mean that the machine will update without our choice? (I am guessing it does).
I dont know where you live but in the UK, smartphones were huge as soon as the nokia 7650 and 3650 came out. My first was a Nokia 6600. Proper symbian apps no java bollocks. The alternative was to get a windows mobile phone and then run all their shit..so there was ALOT going on before the iphone came out. Dataplans were amazing back then..£10 unlimited data. XBOX LIVE? Fuck that, the smart gamer played online on the pc for free.
I would imagine that this refers to updates for individual games, since the image is targeted at developers (if real, who knows).
a Cafe support image was found on warioworld.com, supposedly confirming the projects internal name? I don't have warioworld access myself so, dunno
basicly, Project Cafe has been confirmed https://www.warioworld.com/images/splash/cafe_high.jpg http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2011/110425_4e.pdf
I can't believe it actually says "easily port from PC, X360". That would be so sweet. So sweeet. I admit the new controller stuff that's going around freaks me out a bit.
So its for real this time? if posting a 1 page PDF on their site is nintendo's idea of viral marketing they should get some new people over in that dept. There was, but not even close to what there is now, which is my point. Today Steam has around 70% of the PC market, a similar well executed initiative on consoles would probably have the same level of success. We dont represent the majority, most people dont give a shit about their consoles, they dont keep the boxes around just throw 'em away. Same with CDs, which is why none of them shed a tear when they moved to downloads.
most people seem to feel that image is a fake (magic power without any power plugs, box resembled a win7 box, reflections, noise added to mask render addition)
