This. I would think based on that alone, he's probably scamming. Then again the only way to tell is 100% proof. Maybe isn't good enough, am I right?
Yes,100-150€ worth items. He can sell & have real ones,we're not talking about games of the same "league". Same for Gold Carts of Super Bomberman 2,5, or Tetris 2+Bombliss...i can admit those are true. Not the DBZ/Rockman 4/Binary Land FC carts, nor this Yam Yam. I'm picky when it comes to 1000$+ games. Anyway,i asked proof,he w<asn't able to provide (invoice from mandarake,he could hide the price),SOMETHING. And nothing so far..when i knew that (in October) It was still in Mandarake,i was certain it's a fake.
Vampire Killer gold? I personally don't believe it. Show me genuine contest ads or any other authentic brochure which talks about it. Don't need to see the cart, since it could be fake and doesn't proof anything anyway! Just my two cents. Regarding Yam Yam Gold: only one in the world and the Mandarake copy is incomplete, which is very sad. They talk about it on the official page I posted in the Vampire Killer gold thread. Anyway, I still remember reading that Mandarake finally sold it. Was a JAPANESE source, so usually (but not always) trustworthy. Since so many people on the forums claim it is still at Mandarake Nakano I will have to admit that I am wrong and my memory may have played tricks on me.. So long.. Oh yeah, and the Thai guys copy is fake like Adol said. Total BS!
I'm no expert but this thread is proving to be quite fascinating; I have one simple question, who can confirmt there was only ONE copy ever made. So far, that part seems to be very unconfirmed... If there was more than one it might lend 'some' credibility to the auction. Who knows for sure there was only ever one produced?
it was a prize for a contest, they took one cart painted et voilà , only one made, I higly doubt they painted a whole box of yam yam
Did you not read the thread? Mandrake has the only one copy and a shop would never sell such a rare game. Never! Another interesting point. I have no clue how they painted these and so on but does anyone know? I mean im guessing to get some perfectly painted carts its going to take more then just the first try. Not to mention you would make a couple more just to be on the safe side that you dont scratch or drop one and dent it before sticking it in the box. I for one highly doubt they were made 1 by 1 for every gold cart produced. There must of been a batch produced. Even if the batch was relatively small. It all depends on how they got rid of the non used ones. Either way i would stil bet this is a fake.
Top ways to determine if this Yam Yam is legit: - Chip some gold paint off and spectroscopically compare it to a chip of paint from a known gold cart; maybe we can get those guys who examined the Shroud of Turin on the case - Radiocarbon dating to determine when the paint was applied - Cut it in half and count the rings Really, if you guys care, I'm going to Japan next week and I can check Mandrake Nakano to see if it's still there.
Yes, I read the entire thread, I was just thinking more along the lines of someone here having (perhaps) a scan or something to verify this competition a little more? All we know is "there was a competition" and there was "only one produced". But where do we know this from? Has anyone actually gone to this shop and personally asked if only one copy was made for the competition? There may have been five lucky winners for all I know. (EDIT:: Okay, someone did.) Still, I'm not questioning the authority of others - I was just looking for a little more info on the details of this competition. From what I can gather all we have is the word of this Mandrake shop (who own a copy). Surely, it would be in their interests to maintain there is only one copy for their own gain. Perhaps 1 came with artwork/phonecards and a small bunch of other winners got carts that didn't? I wouldn't have thought this would be unusual. Something that doesn't add up - if this guy really was making fakes of these gold carts, why on earth would he fake a cartridge that is meant to be one of a kind? That just smacks of stupidity, plain n' simple.
one of the funniest thing i read in ages. BTW i think that maybe more than one were made, but i doubt they are out in the wild...
There was probably more than just one copy produced, but I guess the company would rather destroy the others in order to maintain only one copy.
Did no one look at the other pictures on the link adol gave on the first page? http://collectorsking.free.fr/Gold%20Carts%20&%20Extras.jpg http://collectorsking.free.fr/Gold%20Carts%20petit.jpg http://collectorsking.free.fr/Hibaihin.jpg http://collectorsking.free.fr/Kuniokun no Dodgeball Tournament Special Loose petit.jpg
You know what, I think I'll just phone bloody mandarke in nakano to find out if they still have it or not. Simple really. Don't know why any of you guys didn't think of it rather than just asuming it's there. Nobody knows it's there for sure. Have any of us seen it IN THE SHOP in the last 2 months? ......... Didn't think so. Yakumo
i didn't went to that shop within the last two month, but i could go there today after work. but i think i will not be able to go there after work, since my todays work will end again at a time the shop may already be close. teh dammit :banghead:
yeah, I know. It's pretty obvious it's a fake but what gets me is people saying "It's in Mandrake. We know this for a fact". How can they no such stuff when they can't even visit the store? Yakumo
Yes,somebody told me he saw it in October..he WENT to the store. was 1 month ago though, but it was AFTER that Thai guy proposed it to me. That's why i find obviuous it was a fake (i have nothing againt Thailand, but i must admit such rarity games from Thailand..mmm)
