when i was little i spend hours and hours trying to defeat a boss in a videogame. years later i read in a magazine that some copies were delivered with a bug, making it IMPOSSIBLE to kill said boss without cheating. i don't remember the games name, was something with a wizard. in retrospect it was kind of a stinker anyway
Worst bugs i have encountered are on Sonic the Hedgehog (PS3,XBOX360) where you can walk on walls and fall in through the loops... thats freakin' creepy ya know. Sonic the Hedgehog is a HEDGEHOG... not an ant. This game is unplayable in my opinion.. HOW on earth could they do this to a sonic game? Its impossible... Video
Years ago, I was playing this SNES game. I forgot what it was called, but it has tons of goblins and ghosts. Long story short, I get ALL the way to the end, and after I beat the final boss, the game just resets and sends me back to the beginning. F that, I just turned it off. Still haven't seen the credits...
First time I played Diablo II: LOD. Remember the last fight in that bridge against Baal? I fought with arrows and spells, and when I killed him he was floating outside the bridge. I gave it no importance. The archangel Tyrael appeared, gave the final speech and the portal to Destruction's end appeared. Where's the bug? The portal appeared over Baal's corpse, outside the bridge! I had to quit the game and lost the ending video sequence. I could watch it later, but damn it was frustrating...
Zelda: Majora's Mask on the N64 emulator on Xbox. Works fine to about 15 minutes before the end boss, then doesn't.
Mario Party 2. Me and my friends were playing a whole day this 50-rounds game and then, it was within the last 5 games, Luigi didn't want to return to his default position when the minigame was over. It was this game in which you have to grab money from your opponents bags, but Luigi just kept running circles around the place where he was supposed to stand. Not funny, at least not after an entire day of Mario Party ^^
Half Life 1 for PC, Everytime you went in the water the screen would go black/brown with some light spots at exits making it near impossible to navigate in water hence dying all the time trying to find the exit light spot... lol After replaying the game sometime later on a newer PC I discovered it was a bug.
I remember playing True Crime New York City and the worst bug was when in missions that had a scripted sequences because some time you'd break out of theose scripted parts it was impossible to finish the mission and also at some stages you'd fall through the level into nothing and eventually die.
One of the most frustrating bugs is the one in the 360's Xbox emulator that prevents me from playing Panzer Dragoon Orta. Well, past the second stage anyway.
Mine would be with the crappy third party memory cards of the PS1, lost plenty of saves from my memory card. Surprisingly, I bought a Mad Catz one shortly after losing a FF7 save (my first playthrough, strange looking back, only made it 10 hours or so in), which to this day, still has my saves from the PS1 days, which is crazy. (And I havent used it since before the PS2 came out)
I think the most recent annoying bug I've encountered was when I played through HL2 on PS3. You could come to zones in the game than when entered would make all the graphic with the exception for the skybox disappear making it impossible to navigate. So every time this happened I had to reboot the game and hope it would be gone when I came to that area again >_< Not to mention the ridiculous slowdowns. wtf EA/Valve/SONY?!
I too lost my saves due to a 3rd party memory card failure. I bought an action reply type device and when the package came, I noticed that they sent me a freebie - a memory card. Cool, or so I thought. That piece of crap died on me with all of my Final Fantasy VIII savegames on it. First play-through, last disc. It took some time before I bothered to go through all that again.
Did they patch it or something? I played through nearly the whole game and didn't have any problems?? Ahhhh, FF8....my one true FF love. Not a bug, but my PS1 memory card with saves I've had for years got snatched by some dickhead in high school.
Ah my heart bleeds  Maybe it's a sign to run the game off real hardware, although this is an N64 so I can see why you may not want to have that in your house. Galaga arcade has an annoying 2 player bug (in some ROM revisions) where the game might not switch between the different aliens when chaning from one player to another, so you can see aliens moving at the top of the screen but the game never starts meaning a power cycle is the only way to restart.
Whoa.... what? That's not good. Orta is one of 3 Xbox games I actually care about. That's right. I did finally play through the game on the Zelda Collection disk though.
Vigilate 8 DC - On one stage the vehicle would just fall halfway through the road and you just sit there. Another game (can't recall the title) one area on the narrow path you'd fall through the level into nothing. The worst thing was it took 1o + minutes to get back to the spot from the closest save location.
