i hope he can make a fram patch for it i have been seeing a huge wish list for a PCE turbo16 ED. now i say let they man work on update's every thing eles first you no what i mean
Im pretty sure Krikzz wont delve into a new project before fixing the flashram issues or filling the backorders. He is not NeoMyth. Well.. at least I hope so.
Honestly it really isn't worth the effort to play emus on 64. Only reason this was added was cause those emus already existed so krizz made it so that they could function more smoothly instead of having to do stuff like on ez flash carts for gba where you have to compile a whole rom image. If you even wanted further work done on those emus then talk to the original authors of them. Best bet on gb emulator would be hacking the pokemon stadium emus.
I feel like a bit of an artard. It occurred to me that the memory card might have a dead battery but I dismissed the thought because it seemed silly to make a standalone memory card that wasn't flash-based. I guess I forgot that flash ram wasn't too popular or prevalent in the late '90s. Anyway, thanks MottZilla, I replaced the stupid battery and it seems to work fine now.
Hey Krikzz, Can you post some updates about how the flashram support is working out? Is it near release? Is it a pain to improve?
Samson7Point1, it's alright I too thought that the N64 Memory Paks were Flash/EEPROM based like the Playstation 1 Memory Cards. I checked though and discovered that it's just battery backed SRAM.
well, i can load saves from emulator, some games (zelda for example) can make own save, but anyway after few write cycles begins errors, so flashram read works, but write to flashram still unstable
Not sure if you are aware of this, but Gamester81, one of the biggest retrogaming youtuber made a review of the EverDrive64. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SbAy23h8d0
Every progress is good news Is it a timing problem? (Game writing faster to flashram than your FPGA logic can handle?) Just curious.
lack of information is a main problem. the only source of information is a "N64FlashRAM.c" from libn64-alt, pj64 sources and original fram chip which was connected to ED64 via T-connector. functions from N64FlashRAM.c can read/write my flashram implementation, but real games can't write without errors. i don't know how exactly flash ram access implemented in commercial games and it is a biggest problem
Possibly contact the authors of project 64? I know it sounds ridicules but I mean emus have to know how to address certain save types don't they?
well, looks like flashram... works!!!!! wooohooo!!! i not tested a lot, but paper mario, cnc, starcraft and zelda works filne and can read/write saves. so new firmware will be available soon
Yeah great job Krikzz. My usb blaster has no arrived yet So even it's released I'll have to wait #P Damm shippings from China.
Has anyone confirmed that this is up and running on their Everdrive64? I've been trying to patch my Perfect Dark 1.1 rom and I just can't figure out what patcher to use. Anyone have instructions or this patched rom?
