What a surprise, as X360's being talked up over the internet, nintendo confirm some of the rumours on revolution: Interesting Bits: Will use dual Layer (full size?) DVD's Backward compatible with GC Slot loading drive Smallest console yet - In its final form, Thickness of 3 DVD cases, not much longer (Sounds like a PC Engine but longer or Slim PS2 but fatter) Vertical or horizontally orientated Wireless LAN Ready Also, At E3 nintendo will be wirelessly broadcasting DS Demos. Looks pretty cool: http://www.pressthebuttons.com/2005/05/why_wait_in_lin.html
I would assume full-size DVDs as they haven't specified otherwise. "gaming-focused features" Don't know exactly what that means but I'd imagine it's an effort to distance themselves from the plethora of non-gaming features touted on other consoles. Yay, I say. Yay, verily.
Man, now I'm more pumped than ever. Still, I'm wondering how they'll have a slot loading drive that takes full size and 3 inch disks...that is...unelss they don't use full size discs.
This doesn't make me pumped, but even more curious. I'm wondering how they are going to fit the kind of innovation and power they are talking about in something that small...I mean, look at what the XBox 360 is sporting! I hope this doesn't mean it will be the weakest (graphics wise) of the three systems. So, I guess also, it has me worried...Because I personally would also like something 'differnent for a change,' and these 'size constaints' have me worried how they will pull it off. It should also be noted that since they are going to be releasing almost a year from now, technology availability will be drastically smaller and different than the XBox 360s, so it is possible to win at all categories with Nintendo's new system.
Revolutionary Vagueness Actually the addition of the Internet was important in this generation too, but I guess Nintendo was just too busy getting their finger on the pulse of gaming to notice... Indeed, during Nintendo's long tenure as a console giant they have apparently learned this small tidbit that will give them great advantage in the coming times! You know if I owned stock in Nintendo and hadn't already bailed out and sold it, selling it would be my number one priority right now... ~Krelian
I love new Nintendo stuff, it's always more interesting than anything else for me. Shame they never hold my attention.
I'm a sucker for most things with the nintendo name on Sure, it sounds pretty fanboyesque, but generally, most games with nintendo's name on are better than average - not always outstanding, but very rarely bad.
not a bad mock up guess for size, still im intreasted even more in finding out how this thing will pan out with its size, xbox 360 is already looking more attractive then x-box was when it came to the market, wish theyd use a better dpad though, seems this one is worse but oh well, the one i seem least intreasted is ps3, seems like its going to be another ps2 with features that will be heavily overlooked such as the ps2 did with usb support and such.
H comes before E, H comes before E, why is that such a hard concept to grasp? And just to keep my faith in humanity from falling even further, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that the missing 'N's in Nintendo were a conscious omission rather than an indicator of massive brain damage somehow brought on by the internet. Moving on, I'm absolutely horrified by the inclusion of a slot-loading drive. Those have always terrified me in car stereos, as they can't possibly be good for discs. And I do wonder how they are going to wing compatability with the Gamecube mini discs if it is slot loading. I personally wouldn't mind a tray, or even better, a top-loading design like the current gamecube. All I can ask of Nintendo right now is this: Do NOT make the default controller wireless. Give us a Wavebird Revolution, but don't force me to shell out extra for a reliable, non-crappy controller.
LOOK, LOOK, LOOK, holy Jesus http://rapidshare.de/files/1741533/Nintendo-ON-Revolution.wmv.html , Let's hope thats not a fake....look....
that looks fake as hell... but then again, who would spend so much time to do that.... err... people these days...
HAHAH i thought OMG THERES A NINTENDO HOOVER!!! Play games and clean the house at the same time... revolution i see.
Takes sucking to a whole new level for Nintendo. Basically they've been rehashing this "sucking" technology since N64
