I care about as much about DVD playback as I do for backwards compatibility. In other words, no, I don't care. Nice to have, but not necessary. I think I've used my Xbox maybe once to play a DVD since 2001.
If revolution could play my DVDs then there'd be one less ugly silver box by my TV. I think that'd make it worth sticking in, although if it would cost $20 more per unit for Nintendo then I can see why they'd ditch it for an add-on. If the DVD add-on costs much more than that I'll be properly pissed off
Anyone following the insanity on the IGN Revolution boards? All sorts of semi-credible sounding rumors flying around about additional Nintendo unveilings coming tomorrow. Part of me wants to disregard it all as complete BS, but at the same time, there are some questions raised that are just impossible for me to dismiss. i.e. what the hell is the "Nintendo NOW" logo that is on the front page of Nintendo's site? Or the videos that were posted on, and then removed from Ninty's site with the higher-ups talking about Thursday. Why would they do that? I dunno, it just seemed strange that no other boards had even a whisper about this, but IGN is just exploding over it.
I've been curious about that as well. Possible brand name for their online/on-demand service similar to XBOX LIVE?
Lemme guess. You sold your systems? I just need 1 system for my DVDs and thats my PS2. It would be pointless to have it on another system as well. :ayashi
I don't have a DVD player, and it is pretty convenient to have a system that can play them. But actually, I quite forgot that my new pc can play them as well!
Revolution will support gamecube memory card AND controllers (picture inside) that rumor of the ''no controller console'' seems to more and more like a reallity, since it will use the gamecube pads for the gamecube, and certainly for the full retro-compatibility. Like if they couldn't use the revo controller for this, because there's none. Hmmm....
Im moving this in a minute... its been mentioned in another revolution thread. So it will be going there.
