Chicago looks nice. Thanks for sharing. Is it true it can snow without any actual precipitation? The wind blows water into the city and it's so cold that it turns to snow?
Not sure, but the first time I went it was October and it was raining and so damn windy. It was blowing between the buildings hard enough you'd see people walking with their umbrellas in front of them with their bodies at an angle. I'm sure that's nothing new to big city people, but not here in KC.
Have you ever been to Thorp or Ellensburg? If you have, just picture the wind they always have with rain @ 40 degrees.
Yeah, I've been to Ellensburg several times. So, it's like going on a rollercoaster in the rain, whenever you walk out into the street? Oh! And with chapped lips?
I don't have picture taken by me, but here's a website with pictures of my city (in french, just click the thumbnails). http://www.tourismetroisrivieres.com/fr/galerie.php Trois-Rivières is a old city as you'll notice, the 2nd settlement in north america... http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trois-Rivi%C3%A8res%2C_Quebec
Sadly none take by me but some of Bedford where we currently live! The bridge over the river Great Ouze Embankment Gardens Market Place (on non-market Days)
Man, I wanna live in Seattle! I'm bored as fuck tonight, since apparently all my friends wanna do on friday nights is smoke weed. I might wander around and takes pics of my goofy ass area later. Seriously, whatever happened to fun stuff like LAN's and crap on weekends? NM: I just heard gunshots outside and police sirens. Sigh.
I wanted to show you guys what can be found behind the back of my home. Quite creepy to be honest ! First off here's a shot of my home. Yeah, they are train tracks however thankfully it's not that noisy. The first thing you see when you turn around away from my place is this very odd looking tunnel. The sign says what company it belongs too but just what goes through there? Where does it come from and where does it go ??? Walking a bit further up the hill we see a few home. All looks pretty normal don't you think? Nice enough area for sure ! After about 5 more minutes walk up the hill the area starts to become more rural. This nice little stream can be found near the walk way. Another 5 or so minutes up the ever narrowing road we come across some more homes. The further you progress up the road the more rundown they become. People live in these too. But what really freaks me out is that the last home (2nd picture) has some old guy saying some very creepy words in a strange voice every time I pass it. Continuing up the road which has now become a track we see the gate to an abandoned or so it seems, shrine. Here's a view from another track that braches of the main one. You can see the Shrine through the trees. Looks as creepy as hell doesn't it ! The very first time I came here was at dusk so you can imagine what that was like ! Here is the front of the shrine. It continues around the back as well but there was no way I was going around there with all the snakes and shit. This is a toilet. The pipe coming out of the ground is to take away the fumes I believe. And finally there's an old water fountain that doesn't seem to be in use these days. Yakumo
Yep, that's why I live in it All the floors are wooden apart from the "Must have" tatami room which we use as the bed room. I really don't like Japanese style homes. many of them are so dark inside. Yakumo
Okay, finally got around to uploading some pictures I took on a sunny day. My part of town was built around 1910 and very little has changed since then (pretty much like the old downtown) so it looks quite nice (imho). First a view looking down my street: One end of the street leads to a stream, with the old Department of Chemistry building (looks like a castle) across: Moving further along the canal, there's boats people use for cruising around the city (Leiden has many canals) ...and to live in (picture taken from bridge in #2): Cycling to my part of the university, I pass the East-Asian studies building: And a bridge overlooking part of the Rhine with token windmill: Well, that's it for now, might post some more later on
Here are some of the pictures I took on my mini vacation. There are pictures other than my area, but taken on my trip and you don't have to look at them. The pictures from "Dogwood & Various places" are more on topic.;-) Please forgive the quality of some of them. I’m not a photographer by any means and the flash ruins some of the shots. http://www.combobento.com/vacation Cars = Some old cars. Dogwood = A park like place that offers bike and horseback riding, fishing and guided tours of the property. Ripley’s = Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum. Toys = Toy museum. Various places = Shots of the area we stayed and a house (attraction) in Eureka Springs. Veterans = War items from WWI to Desert Storm. I missed a shot of a mink at Dogwood, but got the ground hog on the rock. The area with all the trout is called the glory hole.
