A 10 in every category, PS3 has the slight edge on visuals. It's been almost 10 years since IGN gave a 10 on any game (last given to Soul Calibur in 1999): IGN Review Site "I could go on and on about why Grand Theft Auto IV is one of the best games we've ever seen and why even folks who are easily offended should play it, but that would be pointless. The only thing you need to know is that you have to play this game. Period." -Chris Roper, IGN ------------------------------ 10 Presentation The story is Oscar quality. The use of the phone as a gaming portal is genius. There's really nothing more that could be asked for from GTA IV. 10 Graphics The level of detail is astounding. Liberty City feels alive and lived in. While there are some technical issues, the artistic merits push the score to the max. A true marvel. 10 Sound The dialogue makes the story. Without the excellent writing and the stellar voice acting, the story would fail. And the soundtrack kills -- more than 200 songs and almost all are great choices. 10 Gameplay The cover and targeting system work great. Blind firing with an RPG is a thing of beauty. Everything works in harmony and not a single one of the missions is bad. The most fun I've had in years. 10 Lasting Appeal The story will take anywhere from 25-45 hours to complete, depending on your skill level and attention span. There's plenty more to do once you finish the story, such as excellent multiplayer. 10 [Masterful] OVERALL (out of 10 / not an average) ----------------------------- Goldstein, Hilary. Grand Theft Auto IV Review. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/869/869541p1.html . IGN Entertainment Inc. 2008. .
fuck that, GTA a perfect 10? Last time they gave a "real" perfect 10 it was Ocarina of Time, and that game was a legend. GTA just repeats itself with small improvments every generation. Reading the "graphics" clause it mentions some technical issues. Just me, but if something isn't perfect, you give it a non perfect score, yet she gave the visuals a 10/10 - how does that reflect the technical shortcommings she mentioned previously? Once more, IGN are so full of shit PS: Hilary Goldstein, the reviewer of the game, is probably a person who's not half as experienced as your average geek-male reviewer who has played every other game on every console since the NES. Sorry to say this, but I don't trust women when it comes to game reviews. They get excited too easily.
Yeah, I saw that. Personally, I'm not totally obsessed with graphics, as seems to be the norm nowadays. It is all about GAMEPLAY. So what if the graphics don't look totally lifelike? I'd rather have a game that plays well than looks great but has no storyline and shocking controls. We got our copies 17 hours ago :110:
... unlike Zelda? Or any other Nintendo franchise? I am personally surprised that the PS3 version is better than the XB360 version, especially considering the $50million back hander the devs got from Microsoft. I guess it's down to streaming from DVD.
It isn't. IGN's little head-to-head guy said the PS3 ran a little bit smoother or something (but apparently this is only noticable if you stare at the two running side by side for hours). Also, the PS3 version has Sixaxis controls. Other than that they're identical. Well, aside from the 360 version having DLC and probably way more people online. Edit: And even at the end the IGN guy said to get whatever version your friends were getting. So apparently the other aspects weren't really worth making one "better" than the other.
Apparently the PS3 runs a tad slower, the sixaxis controls suck and you have a 3.4GB manditory install, but the plus points are less pop-up and free online. At least that's what I've gathered from Kotaku, Gametrailers and IGN. Either way it's gonna be awesome whatever system you play it on.
barc0de watch your forehead vein, it will bust any minute now  from what gather, this is as revolutionary title as revolutionary titles gets. going to internet cafe to browse internet? dating via online(in the game) lol, spending time watching tv in your apartment? graphics looks fantastic and variety will keep you playing it for a long time. I cannot wait. ps.oh and barc0de check metacritic if you think hillary's review isn't very good: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/grandtheftauto4 one of the highest rated games (13 reviews - yet still holds perfect 100/100).
Free online, faster load times and better graphics are pretty conclusive selling points IMO. Other than that, they're identical.
Barely noticable "better" load times and graphics? I think not. As for free online... you get what you pay for, and Xbox Live is excellent, so I will happily give MS $50 a year for it.
no offence to ladies meant I ll reserve my comments until I play the game, yet I think it won't be anything I haven't done before - I m a hard person to please, old and grumpy in gaming years!
Great, now I HAVE to play the game, which means choosing between the meltdown reactor and the george foreman grill... After all, the PC version is still a billion years (gamer-time) from being released, and looking at Rockstar's craptastic optimization of GTASA I bet I'll need a system twice as expensive than a PS3 to run the game properly. And now Miyamoto says "kill the infidels"... Seriously, OoT is so overrated: I remember waiting for WW to come, but back in 1998 I had a N64 and when OoT came out I was like "is that it?". Overhyped, with IMO the only thing being remarkable that it managed to make the best transition yet from 2D to 3D. And stop drinking the hatorade dude, you're scaring the few girls we have here:lol:
