Because I didn't know it existed :) Thanks

It's not that easy to find the latest version if you're not following the thread regularly :)

Is Shenmue supposed to reboot when you swap discs? When I played with GDMenu 0.3 it rebooted back to the bios screen and then I click on play and disc 2 loaded. With GDMenu 0.51 when I swap discs in shenmue it reboots and then loads the GDMenu again. I assume this is due to reset_goto = 1. Now I think my DC shouldn't be rebooting when I swap discs in shenmue, so not sure what is wrong there. I tried Skies of Arcadia and booted disc 2 first, it asked me to swap to disc 1 and I was able to cycle to it with the button on the GDEmu. My Shenmue save is at disc 2. I boot disc 1 and get it to ask me for disc 2 and the DC always reboots when I press the disc swap button.

I'm on the latest fw, or so I think. It's hard to tell, I think it updated :) I tried updating again and I always just get the slow flashing, is that normal?

Also GDMenu 0.51 seems to boot up much slower than 0.3 (it sits there saying Loading.. for more than 10 seconds, I don't recall it doing that on 0.3), Is this due to a different method being used to read the games list?

Thanks. Why is this not necessary with GDMenu 0.3, which is what I was using before?
Maybe I already did it with GDMenu 0.3 and I don't remember because it was so long ago.

Also, where can I get the latest version of the tool?

    Edit: Found it :)
    http://xxx.biskoto.gr/GDEMU_SD.rar

and created the menu with it and now it loads instantly :)

Dreamcast still reboots when I press the disc swap button in Shenmue though :(

It's necessary with the last menu rev because madsheep didn't update his tool, for now.
I've never had to use the swap function so i can't help you for this.

Figured out my problem. It is the multi disc games that have the same title such as "shenmue 2 eu" for all 4 disks. When i sort the list alphabetically the multi disc games (disc 2,3,4) all point to the corresponding disc 1 folder instead of disc 2,3,4 folders. And those were the discs that were missing and causing the folder not found error.

So i manually copied all the disc 2,3,4s to a folder and deleted the entries that were not pointing to the correct folder and readded them and manually sorted those discs.

Took a little effort but now i have a 256 sd card with 215 games sorted alphabetically.

I tried to rename these discs to "shenmue 2 - disc 2" for example but when i hit done i cant get it to save the changes when i customize the menu before saving. But no biggie now ill just manually sort any future games whenever i can get a 512gb card for less than the $350-400 on amazon right now.

So does anybody know why Shenmue reboots when I press the disc swap button?

Because it's supposed to. Shenmue didn't support disc swap. You saved at the end of a disc, and loaded up your 'start file' at the beginning of the next disc.

They didn't add Disc Swap until Shenmue 2. (And GDEMU has difficulties with the disc Swap on Shenmue 2, I reported it about 6 months ago but told him I don't care if he fixes it or not. The game sometimes reaches a point where it can no longer detect when you press the button, so you're stuck on the insert next disc screen no matter how many times you press the button, even if you remove/reinsert the SD card.)

Thank you, I suspected that this was the case, but I couldn't find any confirmation. I've got the original game here, but couldn't be bothered putting my GD-Rom drive back in to see if it did the same :)

Does Shenmue 2 save before the disc swaps? I'll probably play Shenmue 2 on Xbox anyway.

All multi disc games bar D2 save before swapping the disc & allow you to load the disc separately.

    Hello,
Since I have updated to GDmenu v0.5.1 all my games refuse to boot. I have always the same error message : "This game require another king of cable..."
I have always used VGA cable and since the update all games working fine.
I have try to boot games without GDmenu (removed from 01 directory) and games works fine.

Do you have any idea how to fix this ? Or maybe an archive site with old GDmenu like V0.3 or 0.4

    Regards
    Landsat

Slightly off topic, but was there ever a GDMenu equivalent released for Saturn/Rhea?

Yes, and if anybody is wondering about his naming conventions a Rhea is a type of bird related to the Emu and Ostrich.

It's also one of Saturn's moons, which is probably what he's going for.:)
