Also his 21pin prototype is called Phoebe, which is another of Saturn's moon.

Saturn moons are named after Greek deities, like most named bodies of the solar system.

Yes but Emu and Rhea are both birds so must be a reason? Might be for both of those reasons. :)

He called them this way in relation of stellar system.
The future name of its 21-pins Rhea could be Theia, that is an "hypothetical" interstellar object too.

With the usb gdrom controller - can a 1tb external drive be powered by the dreamcast? Or does it need to be plugged into the wall? Or maybe a Y cable?

Also if i had a usb 3.0 drive is that backwards with the gdrom controller which is usb 2.0?

    Yes & yes.

Only time you would need an external power supply is if your 2.5" external enclosure requires one (or a Y splitter) or you're using a 3.5" hdd.

Just buy one that's powered by USB bus power. Also a USB 2.0 enclosure is more than enough.

If you're a game hoarder like me, you'll want a 2TB disk. Then you can fit the latest TrueRip package on it and still have room for a ton of homebrew.

The difference in cost from 1TB to 2TB is almost nothing anyway =)

Hey guys, I've been researching for cool accessories for my Dreamcast now that I have my GD-Emu and all my games in place. So I came across this on eBay & have done a little research. My main question is that some of you veterans may be able to answer is is this wireless controller any good? Cuz I have heard/watched stuff about it online but could never seem to find it in stock. I'm considering purchasing this but wanted a bit of feedback from you guys if it's worth it? Thanks.

I don't know what that question is doing in this thread, but IMO, that is the best wireless controller for the PS2. How it behaves with a converter to DreamCast, I really can't say though. I would not buy it for 100£ though... thats just silly but .. yeah

I'm sure I read elsewhere that the analogue stick doesn't work using the ps2 adapter with a wireless controller, I wouldn't risk it for £100

Some games do not like non-official controllers mainly Windows CE games such as Tomb Raider - earlier in this thread a guy had some games that would crash or not boot due to using a wireless PS2 Controller (Page 107 / 108)

Uhh... I am pretty sure the "EMU" in "GDEMU" stands for emulator.

Got my gd-emu today. Really love it. Id like to get a usb gdrom controller as well. Does the usb gd rom controller have an in game reset feature? For me this is essential

If you have the switch installed in the USB-GDROM, you can just open the lid and close it again to reset back to menu.

IGR is in the works though if I understood MNEMO ok.

Cool thanks for the info. Getting up every time I want to try a new game would be a little tiresome for me. I'm sure it will be implemented soon.

Sorry if it's been asked before but will a fast scroll feature, push right and left to change letter, or pushing up at the top of the list taking u to the bottom of the menu be implemented in GD Menu? Takes a long time to scroll thru if u have a lot of games. Love the gd menu though not complaining.

Also has anyone else encountered upside down disc pictures too on the menu?

The scrolling speed is a limitation of how gdemu works. It could be changed in the future by a firmware update, not a gdmenu update, but idk if deunan cares or not.

For the upside down disc images, could it be because those discs are supposed to spin I the bios music menu so the orientation isn't important?

That sounds like a reasonable explanation for the upside down images.

Im very torn. I have the gdemu and im hoping if and when 1-2tb sd cards come out if they will work. I have a 256gb formatted in fat32 works great so id think larger should work too as long as formatted correctly. But i know these sd cards would be expensive as heck too.

If i got another dc, a usb gd rom controller, and a 2tb hard drive that would be pricey and id have to reorganize and rename folders for use with the gdrom controller so i know which game is which

I do prefer an internal sd card to a external drive taking up more space. Decisions decisions.

Hey, sorry for the late reply.

The issue you reported happens when the VGA flag bit isn't set to 1 in the ip.bin of the game you are trying to boot while using a VGA box, this shouldn't be a problem when using the latest release of the menu, as it overrides the code responsible for checking the flag.
But it seems that the patch isn't working for you, a possible explanation is that you have a different bootROM (bios) version, most likely v1.004. The patches are targeted at the v1.01d of the bootROM and since the routines that check the ip.bin are different in the v1.004 it could explain why it wouldn't work for you. I actually made patches for that version but didn't include them as I just assumed all VA1 consoles came with v1.01d, seems I was wrong... :(

Anyway I'll PM you later with a debug build to get some extra info from your system to confirm this and the possible fix for you to test.

This is currently in the works on the firmware side, but it's not trivial to implement as it requires a few changes, also as you can imagine deunan is busy with few other things atm and then I'll have to add support for it in the menu, so it will be awhile until it's ready.

There's a few other things coming that are already implemented, full names support (parsing by extension like in the rhea), a way to check firmware version and some bugfixes.

I really wish your menu worked on UGC :-(

How do you do patch the bios (in memory) from the menu system?
Would it be possible to implement something that would work with the UGC device?

Like a new executable that patches the bios & the loads the main executable?
(Would require rebuilding a GDI image on a computer, but that can be done automatically)
