You queue up disk 2 with the yellow button and it should say so in the lower left corner.
You then start disk 1 with the red button to start it. Open and close the lid to switch to disk 2

 

You have to queue up images in the beginning at the menu by hitting x.

 

Is the door/lid detector switch soldered to the board required for this?

 

Yes.

If you do not have that, there is only one game that requires that you switch disks in game. Its D2.
All the other games you can boot on disc 2 instead.

 

hey thanks for the info , is there any chance to get access with ugc to the gd-rom (HDD) via any dreamshell version or another programm ? to access vmu files and copy erase etc cuz i dont have sd card adapter for dc

edit i mean vmu files from the internet copy to vmu ofc

 

hm ive tried the swap disc function with ugc and shenmue 1 and it seem it doesn't work , i played to the end of disc 1 and 2 and qued disc 2+3 before when it saves and asked me to change the disc i flipped the switch and ive got back to dc bios .-... any solutions ?

 

Boot into CD3 and load the save called "Disc 3 start file" or something like this. Swapping isn't necessary really for Shenmue 1, even with gd-rom I never did it.

 

i know its not necessary with shenmue but if it there doesn't work then it wouldn't work either with d2 right ? where u need it

 

It's broken, disc swapping only works with cheat discs currently, well from my testing no game works with swapping images.
(The image swaps fine, but the game doesn't recognise it's changed)

 

so if i flip the lid switch i got back to the dc bios , is this also happening for u ? cuz u wrote that above quotet

 

Not sure what happened but I cant get gdemu_sd to load anymore. I tried restarting my computer, different windows compatibility modes, and different versions of gdemu_sd. When i double click it or right click and run nothing happens.

My windows 7 is really messed up i think thats probably the problem. Woops nevermind.

is there a way to patch or make this gdi "San Francisco RUSH 2049 v1.001 NTSC" work on ugc ? cuz it doesent work with region free enabled on ugc

 

What region is your DC, PAL by any chance?

Some games check the region on the flash chip, Vanishing Point (NTSC Version) is one such game.

 

Hi there,

I was about to buy this thing (USB GD-ROM), for use in a PAL console and was planning to only play NTSC import games.

Is there a list of games that won't work with the "Region free" feature, like the Vanishing Point game ?
Or maybe it's just rare that this happen ?

Edit: Is this mod (http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/dreamcast-region-change) work ?
If so, I may just have it done on mine ;D

i have an pal dreamcast and done the region change mod so i use currently japan region with ntsc broadcast, if i change it to us region does the games rush and vanashing point then work ? can also gameshark cdx bypass this check ?

 

If you do that mod yes it will work, but there are risks doing that mod.

Vanishing point (NTSC) works with NTSC/-J not sure about San Fransisco Rush (NTSC), as I haven't had any issues loading it on a PAL system, when I checked all the NTSC/PAL games only game that refused to work was Vanishing Point (NTSC).

 

If it's only for one game (that is available in pal, anyway), i won't bother doing the mod. Thank you for your precise answer

 

There is a few more games like that, but they are very rare.

Region changer can indeed completely transform the region of the console, but you have to make sure to remove the wire that allows editing the region flag, otherwise it will eventually corrupt it and it won't boot anything.
