YEs he is going to make MANY according to the conversation we had.

You can still ICQ him if you want one... That is why things are hidden, so he don't get flooded by people from outside the forums world.
My buddy contacted him 2 days ago about one and was given the green light.

Give him a shot.

EVen if he is sold out - he plans on making another 15+ run and then he said he wants to do 100.

So I hope he follows through.

 

What I understand. He plans to start mass production but having a hard time finding what he needs to get it started. and he does have some in stock. Just not enough for a group order

 

If anything he can contact Stoneage gamer and set up a deal with them to get these mass produced. Krizz said he will not do cd systems and Denuan said he will not join Stoneage Gamer so this is a perfect opportunity for him to fill the void left by the others as Stoneage Gamer told Dunan they would help him get these made but he had no interest in it.

 

I have sent him 3 people already that I PERSONALLY Know and all 3 have been able to order.


If he is having a hard time finding parts, Perhaps he should join the forum and put up a list of what he needs, I have friends all over the tech world that could tell him where to order from.

 

What I mean was how he wants to mass produce.... I suck at times with wording...

 

He would do real well with mass producing..

From a legal standpoint.. in the USA - and other municipalities (if you live there).
Does a GDEMU constitute piracy? As in the usa a Modchip would be illegal if it breaks a copy protection mechanism.
But since the GDEMU (SD or USB VERSION) Technically does not break any copy protection all it does is emulate a CD/GD rom drive
Would selling it on a mass scale be illegal?

I am no lawyer but from my point of view Both pieces of hardware do not do anything... and they do not assist with the ripping of games.
Technically the boards are, in my opinion, not breaking the DCMA in the USA as they are not doing anything other than reading whatever info is thrown at it in GDI format on a SD card or USB DRIVE.
Technically, open source compiled GDIs would be perfectly legal to posses and use and the Boards would assist in the booting of them.
While users can download, rip their copies of games, and while the GDEMUS do boot them, the EMUs are not bypassing any copy protection they are just acting like a dis drive reading the sectors of the game on the media provided (SD/USB).

Perhaps I am wrong.. any one care to comment?

Reason I ask is, while MNENO and DENAN are not in the USA, could their products be considered MODCHIPS and be seized or prevented from being sold?
MODCHIPS in the USA are sold BLANK or with LINUX bios on them for game consoles to allow US retailers to carry them without fear of DCMA violations and the Buyer is the one who downloads the infringing bios and flashes it to the chip.
Even if the FIRMWARE on the GDEMU devices could be considered (MODCHIP LIKE) or a violation of the DCMA, could they be imported with no firmware or a basic firmware on them to allow the user to then update them with the firmware
that would allow GDI images to boot on the dreamcast once installed?

 

Deunan is making the job by himself and don't want anyone to mass produce his device it isn't a mater of piracy.

 

I was referring to MNEMO - who would do well mass producing..

DEUNAN - was just included in the hypothetical for the sake of conversion.

So does anyone want to elaborate on what they think about these devices and DCMA, Legality, ect..?

 

Just registered to be able to read the full thread and find the info of Mnemo's ICQ.
Since i don't have paypal it was the best option for me, so I can send the money via western union.

I'm just a little scare to send money to some stranger over the net.
I contacted the guy yesterday via ICQ and he says that still have two left.
So I send Mnemo's the payment, with all the info he provided to me.
The rest is up to him.

There always are workarounds, but IMNSHO, the BIOS way is the best way you can take.

Well I don't have a Western Union account. How much did you all end up paying if you don't mind me asking? Isn't Western Union notorious for sky-high fees?

 

IF you want to pay instantly it is $34 but there is a code that cuts that fee in half so it is only $17.

Personally I tried paying with a credit card online and had nothing but issues.

The WU rep ended up giving me a code to get a FREE Xfer to MNEMO...

Still I was gladly willing to pay $17 in fees.

There is a 3 Day option which I think is $24 and if you use the code it is $12.00

I ended up just going to a WU location and doing it with an agent with cash and my code.

Worked out fine after that...

EDIT: After Keropi posted - I then realized the other poster was UK as well. Sorry my info would not be valid, but I am sure there has to be a promo code.
Pick up the phone and call an agent and ask for a promo code.. it does work sometimes. "Hi I was wondering if you had any Promo codes for sending money?"

 

^ same here, ended up going to a WU agent and pay the 20eur fee and get it done... I payed a total of 180eur for everything.
