Anyone tried a larger SDHC card than 32gb? Thinking of buying a 64GB one.

If I am not mistaken you can solder an ide cable to the dreamcast motherboard, attach a HDD to the ide cable, and then use dreamshell to load .gdi's, correct?

Ok. I was not aware of the issues with it. I cannot help with that as I cannot read Japanese. :)

Deunan announced today there will be a 3rd run of the GDEMU before the end of the year:

Yes, this is a tough one. But, even in Japan, it isn't really well known. Guess the release model (one game spanned into 7 GD-ROM, released separately with intervals of time between each release) was a little bit ahead of its time.

Once I got some time and things sorted, I'll give it a try and check. I always wanted to play it, anyway.

I thought all 64gb cards were sdxc? Did they make sdhc ones? I cant seem to find any on amazon.com.

All 64 and above I have seen are SDXC too.
Though I'm hoping the reason SDXC cards do not work with the GDEMU is the exfat filesystem (as a buddy of mine has managed to format a SDXC 128GB card in Fat32 - he'll bring it over this week so I can test it on the GDEMU)

Cool. You may be right about that. I just read this here:

SD Extended Capacity (SDXC™) card is an SD™ memory card based on the SDA 3.0 specification.

SDXC capacities range from 64GB to 2TB

    Default Format: exFAT

Because SDXC uses a different file system called exFAT and it works differently than standard SD cards, this new format is NOT backwards compatible with host devices that only take SD (128MB to 2GB) or host devices that only take SDHC (4GB to 32GB). Most host devices built after 2010 should be SDXC compatible. To ensure compatibility, look for the SDXC logo on cards and host devices (cameras, camcorders, etc.).

I would assume Deunan's host device was built after 2010 so he probably just didnt include support for exFat like you said.

Current firmware only supports up to 64:

Folder names must consist of 2 digits, 01 to 64

CDDA isn't supported yet...And the compatibility isn't the best from what I've seen. But I'm sure its getting better all the time.

well when i was doing homework on it when it was a Baby... it has Grown BIG TIME... but the issue is this.. Why in gods name are you going to wire into where the GDrom drive hooks up just to boot games using bootsoftware??? I respect Dreamshell and would love something like passthrough mod that reads both GDrom drive and a hard drive..

CDDA supported on all devices in RC3, but not for all games yet, because it's just only first release with CDDA playback. You can see proof in my videos http://www.youtube.com/user/lllSWATlll/videos
Not full compatibility list http://www.dc-swat.ru/forum/thread-2145.html (I think it's still not fully updated for RC3 yet, it's started for RC2)
Of course the compatibility worse than any hardware emulator, largely due to unresolved issues with MMU, but progress does not stand still, and that not smaller is important, you can get it for free :)

Well, you can use gd-rom and the hdd at the same time, that's the point :) with new dreamshell rc3 you can dump gd-roms in like 15min or less :)

Let me know how it goes! :)

You can have partitions up to a couple TB with FAT32 so that should not be a limitation i think. But maybe there is some other limitation to the GDEMU that we dont know about.

And MNEMO was putting links in GDEMU youtube comments. Which is how I found out about the USB-GDrom...

    here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJiHUBay5Yk
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_cXpJP1tC0
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LQ_FMdEbfE

I guess this was before he found out it wasn't 100% compatible.

I own both, but have yet to do any real comparisons.

I gave him the list of games & he said it would take some time for him to fix them all.
