I'm sure he's grateful (as are we all) for your time spent testing all the NTSC-U and PAL GDI's Rocky5 - would be awesome if someone can test the NTSC-J ones too for a full compatibility list.
I'm hoping to get one of these for my son when the fixes are done and disk swap is added (Not too bothered about CDI)

Fill the card up with 1 game & see if the last one plays fine. (Since it may load with the card but corruption maybe present at the higher GBs)

Try a 1tb one and we will take Deunan as hostage for him to extend the folder numbering scheme. ;-)

Haha. Do they make 1tb cards yet?

    I did see a 256gb for a little over $100 on amazon.com.

I only put 1 file on there to test initially. I am filling up the card now. Its going to take a while so Im not sure if ill be able to test it before I have to leave for work.

That's awesome :) Hopefully the 128GB one will work too - I should know in a couple of days

Going to assume with GDROM RIPS being 1.10GB each, the most you could fit on a 64GB card after formatting would be about 56 games. So even with 64 Folders a 64GB card would be the way to go.
The 128GB card, in my opinion, would be a waste of space until he adds more than 64 folders. Even at 64 folders X 1.10GB each you would still have 40GB free on that card.
If the 64GB cards work without corruption, I say 64GB should be fine until the folder limit is raised to 100 or more.

That's why I thought about Deunan enhancing the numbers.
Because, then, we could have the best of both world : reliability of GD-EMU and, in the end, put all DC set on one SD card.
But my main concern is that SDXC are the new norm and thus, if we can use them, it's future proofing the GD-EMU, which is great.

I have the size of just the US GDI's clocking in at 325GB. TO do the entire collection on one card you would need a huge SD CARD - That card would be close to 700GB I think for US/PAL/JAP GDI's on one card.

Yep, and cards up to 2tb are planned by manufacturers. :-D

(They will be pricey, but in the and, I rather pay and have something slick rather than an external hdd inside or outside.)

I loaded up my 64gb card with 59 folders (58 games and GDmenu) and have 32.9mb of space left. I loaded up the game in folder 59 and it plays fine. I am also using a sdcard extension which doesn't seem to be hurting performance either.

Thanks for the idea of formatting sdxc to fat32 NightbreedUK! I'm thinking I probably dont really need more than this on 1 card, but I may splurge on a 128gb card at some point if Deunan ups the folder limit. I am thinking they will work fine also.

Awesome - glad it's working for you :)
I use 3 x 32gb cards for all the games i'll ever want to play - so if this works with the 128gb (can't see why not) then the folder limit is the only thing that would stop me having all I need on one card :)
(Though the PNY 256GB card is $110 - and tempting lol)

Did someone informed Deunan? If you want to folder limit upped, telling me and showing him it actually works will be your best argument.

From the very beginning I told Duenan that bigger cards would work with GDEMU and asked him if he could up the folder numbers as I was most certain it would work. If you go back to page 78 in this thread you will also see I already addressed bigger cards.

Yep, but did you kept him updated, like, "Hey, some peeps formated SDXC cards using FAT32 and it worked perfect, so maybe you could extend again the number of allowed folders"?

I wrote a message right now in a comment on his blog that we have tested SDXC cards formatted as FAT32 now, and that the only thing missing would be to exceed the number of folders allowed by the firmware.

Missed this before. There seems to be a bit more to it than just a format issue though. The card reader I usually use (built into the side of my monitor) will not read my 64gb sdxc card no matter if its formated as exFAT or FAT32. I have to use a different usb reader, which did not say it would read sdxc cards, but read it in both formats fine.

There always are some readers that won't work. No compatibility is 100% with digital stuff.
