Sshhhhhh!!!! My wife bought me the Neo-Geo for my birthday and it came with a few bits and pieces including the Supergun. She knew I've been banging on about this for a while so.... It's good enough for it's current job, which is just testing out these boards to see whether it was worth investing in something a little bit more substantial. As the System 246 is the one of greatest interest, I want that one fully functional before I invest in a proper Supergun. Until then I thank my lucky stars I have a wife that even knows what a Supergun is! (I must talk about my hobby to her more than I thought) ;-)
Update: Found a DVD unit that works. The Hitachi GD-5000 October 1999 Rev.A01 Typed BVideo. The next thing I need to figure out is why I am getting terrible colour bleed over. I hope it is simply a setting, but again time has beaten me for today.
Er, rubber & plastic risers, everything OFF the carpet - do not panic! The only one I didn't attach risers to was the System 12, which you can see is placed on top of a box. Not a single PCB touched carpet in the making of these images. No PCBs were harmed. ;-)
Wow, the hidden optical connection inside the Namco system 246 actually works! No more analogue left & right stereo for me! I suggest drilling out a hole in the metal back plate large enough to pass an optical cable through. Tie it off on the other side so it doesn't pull out. Sounds so much clearer.
Naomi The start of a Naomi collection as this certainly seems to be one of the arcade units of choice. US bios (confirmed) and working kit. Bought "Spawn" from an AG member as I've had the Japanese Dreamcast version sitting here unplayed for several months due to a dead Katana and dead DC. Not had much luck with Sega DC eh!
^^ that is simply awesome. "Animated Violence STRONG" that's how you know it's a good one. well... that's what i thought when i was younger anyway.
wow spawn for naomi arcade now thats great are there any differences compared to the DC-version by any chance?
If and when I can test either of the titles I shall let you know ;-) Anyone else know whether the titles differ other than the obvious graphic / audio possible differences? Feel free to jump in!
As detailed elsewhere on AG, I have been repairing the following item. It's now almost completely fixed and thus added to collection. Perhaps not something I will keep for too long as it is rather a large unit, but ho hum! It's been a learning curve; Still in the process of being renovated. Finally some output.
Sony Playstation2 Linux kit. I finally completed this thanks to Limey tracking down a boxed genuine PS2 HDD. Many thanks!
Naomi 1, Capcom I/O & Spawn As per usual my Sega purchasing turned into a "Saga". The motherboard failed to boot. It was powering up, turning on the internal fan, two LEDs lit on the motherboard and the TOSLINK was working. Sometimes the Naomi splash appeared, sometimes it didn't. My immediate thought was that the BIOS was either dislodged or fried. On contacting the seller (eBay) he assured me it worked prior to purchase, but that as he tested it before sending it as working, that I was on my own. Great! Luckily, I knew a bloke with a spare motherboard. I inserted the BIOS, tried it out and Bob's you uncle the BIOS eprom was fine. Motherboard duly discarded, I purchased the second motherboard and kept my BIOS. Finally, Spawn in it's full glory. Also, I got my new TriForce fired up and as I have no games currently, this is as far as I can go;
Great stuff Parris!! I just got my own System 573 up and running. I can show you some pics of the fishing game if you like I´m also in contact with someone to buy a Triforce myself too (the newer ugly looking model though). I´m afraid getting the better games will be really hard (F-Zero AX, Mario Kart GP).. Also really like the Naomi stuff, I hope picking up a cheap one myself soon.
Thanks! I am kind of calling a halt to collecting anything else (unless the Lindbergh (spelling) turns up cheaply). Would love to see your 573 working. I assume you obtained the Supergun on eBay? I really wanted to obtain the fishing title plus controller for it. No rush for me, so if I spot it before you do then I will let you know so you can complete your system. I think the rounded version of Triforce looks cool! Let me know if you find any EXPORT titles for the Triforce. If you get a bundle lot, I would gladly pitch in! The Naomi is without a doubt the coolest thus far. I'm pleased with how it turned out. The Naomi board cost £30.00 btw, so hunt far & wide rather than go for the expensive ones posted on eBay. Try posting a request for one in Killer Cab or similar sites. Yeah, the arcade stuff is good fun, but you could go on and on forever if you really didn't put the brakes on. My interest lies with the units I have thus far obtained, so currently I'm not looking for anything else (apart from games titles).
I bought a complete linux kit before they ran out, you've got the wrong hdd & ethernet adapter box & you're missing the coffin it all came in & the network access disc. I regret using my hdd for hdloader now, but cest la vie.
