Incredible show. Any chance of some more super famicom reviews in the future? Maybe with Holy Umbrella Dondera no Mubo!!, Front Mission Gun Hazard, or Hashiriya Tamashii Rider's Spirits to name a few.

Holy Umbrella is one of those cutesy quirky type of platformer/rpg released by Naxat Soft. You basically control three different characters, each with a different ability that come into use on different levels. In between stages you can also visit towns, which controls like an overhead rpg. The enemy characters are a little to repetitive, but overall it's a pretty decent super famicom game.

Very much looking forward to the latest installment of Retrocore. I always seem to learn something new from each volume. Great fun to watch the classic reviews. Brings back lots of memories.

well well well, I have just seen the three parts of the new version of the Sega Saturn Shooting Special, and I must say, I am impressed (even though it took some serious days watching them all). And I now know why, you like the 80´s synthpop music, and I think it is time, to make a Playstation Shooting Special, since the PSX had some serious 3D shooting games. And well thumps up mate :) it was a great Special :)

And you could always making new new east to west comparisons (or call it console comparisons) between the counterpart PSX versions of some games, and Saturn versions :) anyway what a good special :)

Thanks for the info, MetalSlime. I'll have to check that one out. Do you know if Holy Umbrella is the original name or a translation?

Thank you. Took a lot longer than days to make mind you

Yep, I like 80's synthpop as well as many other types of music as you know. I recently just got Pet Shop Boys PopArt DVD which was a great watch. The comments track by Neil and Chris was very entertaining even if they did go on about their clothes a bit. As for the PSX shooting special, I'm afraid it will never happen or any other PSX special since I just don't own or have access to enough games (I'm, not downloading shit loads of PSX games either :noooo: )

Nice idea which I have done in the Vs section. Some more Vs stuff will be coming soon but when I'm not sure.

Yakumo-sama: well I downloaded the parts some days ago, and then first I watched part 3, and then today, I watched part 1 and 2, and I have a love for shooters, but it has been long gone, but now, thanks to you. The love has been revived.

By the way, you can PM me anytime, if you want 80´s synthpop, and electro music of any kind. Since I have loads of it, and can give you links to both flac, and mp3 versions of synth/electro, Kraftwerk etc. you name it, I got it. Even live, and remix bootlegs. Both on CD, and on video etc.

Holy Umbrella is indeed the original title. Heres a picture of the intro screen displaying it.

    Hello Yakumo,
Another great show! While I enjoy watching all of the segments in each of the episodes, I really look forward to the shite of the month material... and this months was no letdown. I can remember playing Race Drivin' in the arcade and the framerate was only marginally better than what it looked like on the SNES. Which makes me wonder what the game looks like on other consoles. I believe it came out for the Saturn, and since you are the man to consult with on all issues Saturn related I was wondering if you had seen it on the Saturn and if so did it look any better?
Thanks again for all of the hard work!

Actually Race Drivin' or Hard Drivin' I should say on the Mega Drive is pretty good. A million times better than the SNES game. As for the Saturn Race Drivin' well...... It's made by Time Warner, the same sad sods who made Saturn Virtual Racing. The Frame rate on the Saturn Race Driving must be about 15fps BUT it does run in the Saturn's highest resolution and have the extra mode which is the same game but fully texture mapped. Still a load of crap though. The strange thing was that I seemed to play it quite a lot. It's one of those games that is so crap you just have to play it to see how crap it gets.

In Volume 23 I was going to feature another shitty T.HQ SNES game but I may not due to the poor SNES getting all the shite attention  Maybe this month I'll go for a Sega game

Hey Yakumo, I don't know how you take to requests but I'd really love to see a feature on Vectorman for the Genesis (Mega Drive). It was one of the first videogames that I really enjoyed, and that I was really impressed by both aesthetically and gameplay-wise. I was a little kid when I played it, so I am probably a bit biased as to it's quality. But frankly I'd love to see you review it even if you think it's a piece of shit.

Oh yeah. I thought I'd done it before. Oh well, time to see that shite again.

Hmm, Vectorman. I've never played either of the games so i'll have to get a bit of practice in first. My brother used to play it quite a bit so I have seen it. Never thought much of the audio though.

    Lagoon? Isn't that by Taito?
