Considering it was published by titus, it was a throwaway thing. Basically lets just slap Robocop on some mediocre game. They did this with blues brothers as well, which in no way related to the movie at all. Considering how bad the LJN licensed game were (i.e. jaws, back to the future, friday the 13th) at least they remotely covered some parts of the films each game was representing.
Peops, I have finally found out, what this Bubble Bobble 2 thing that started here http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=140742&postcount=447 on page 12 http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=140783&highlight I think, alot of Bubble Bobble stuff is solved with the wikipedia article here. Maybe not all of it, but alot of it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubble_Bobble Sorry to bring the old Bubble Bobble wondering up. But I just felt it would better this way.
The time has come although I wish it hadn't. Retro Core Volume 32 is the final Retro Core for the foreseeable future. I just no longer have the time to produce the show anymore now that I've become a father. Still, it's been a great 3 years and within that Time Retro Core has covered over 390 games. In the final volume of Retro Core we take a look at the PC Engine and it's games. There are many PC Engine games that are also featured on the Mega Drive. Retro Core compare 4 of them side by side as well as taking a look at some of my personal favorite games in my collection. As well as that we've got Japanese game adds and the following games. Dreamcast - Sakura Taisen 3 (Special Promotion movie) Dreamcast - Shenmue 2 (Special Promotion movie) Dreamcast - D2 Arcade - Wild Riders Sega Saturn - Need For Speed Sega Saturn - Burning Rangers Sega Saturn - Duke Nukem' 3D Sega Saturn - NiGHTS into Dreams (Game of the month) Sega Saturn - Hyper Dual Mega Drive - Aero Blasters Mega Drive - Golden Axe Mega Drive - Valis III Mega Drive - Zero Wing PC Engine - Aero Blasters PC Engine CD - Golden Axe PC Engine CD - Valis III PC Engine Super CD - Zero Wing PC Engine Arcade CD - Garoundensetsu Special (Fatal Fury Special) PC Engine - Final Soldier PC Engine - Space Harrier PC Engine - Download PC Engine - Paranoia PC Engine - Ninja Spirits PC Engine - Pop'n Twinbee PC Engine Super CD - Psychic Storm PC Engine Arcade CD - World Heroes 2 PC Engine Super CD - L-DIS PC Engine Super CD - Shubibiman 3 PC Engine CD - Horror Story PC Engine Super CD - Ranma 1/2 Mobile Phone - Shutokou Battle Evolution Mobile Phone - Star Wars mobile Pod Racer Mobile Phone - Ridge Racer Wide Screen Mobile Phone - Cotton Magical Night Dreams DVD out now (Double DVD set) and download coming on May 10th Yakumo
32 Editions of Retro Core is nothing to be sniffed at! Well done for sticking at it for so long, but as you mentioned, being a parent kind of takes a lot more time than you immediately realise. You may return, you never know - Pheonix Retro Core
Yes indeed it may retrun but when is a question I can't answer yet. I'd like it to return as I enjoyed making them. Yakumo
Congrats on making 32 episodes Yakumo! Just wait until you can convince your kid to make the episodes for you, now that will be the day
Yakumo, it has been a great run and I will tell you what I think of RTC 32, when I get it if you have sent it last Monday, then it will probably be here tomorrow. But anyway I will review, and tell you what I think of it
Sorry WDK, It will be sent on Tuesday. I had trouble cramming it on to one DVD at a decent bit rate so now it's a 2 DVD set. The plus side is that you now get a much better piture quality that what you would get if it was crammed on to one DVD but on the bad side it will only arrive a few days before the download rather than two weeks before Yakumo
Much respect Yakamo, hope baby and mother are both doing great 32 episodes is a fantastic body of work and you deserve more thanks than you will probs ever get no matter how hard we all try. I'm gonna miss your undercover store segments in particular.
Sad to hear, but quite understandable with a child in your life now. The shows have been awesome for it's entire run and it's been a pleasure watching them.
It's amazing you were able to make this many episodes, congrats on making one of the best online game shows ever made.
The really sad thing about this is that we probably won't see another show like Retro Core for a long time now. Not to sound too overdramatic, but it's almost like an era is coming to an end. We're lucky that it lasted this long, though.
Thanks for all the kind words, guys. I did have a load of planned features such as the Sega Saturn fighting special (Actually got a few title for that filmed). A new arcade is being build just over the road from my place right now so that was going to get the Retro Core treatment and finally I was going to let a train run over a Gameboy or failing that place it in the middle of a busy road. Yakumo
3 years is quite a run. I think everyone here is in agreement. You'd be hard pressed to find a better gaming show, with the amount of variety and depth, that Retro Core had. Big thanks to you Yakumo. For providing us with such a top notch quality show. Brought back alot of great memories and even introduced new ones from the glory days of gaming past. Thinking back on it, I'd have to say my favorite episodes would be.. Volume 2, which opened my eyes to the Sharp X68000, having never heard such a thing back then. Followed by the monstrous Saturn Shooter Special. The handcam tours of Japan, along with the arcades and game shops, were also some of my favorite moments.
And who can forget the awesome gameshow special ? Where I mentioned, if you made so cool undercover footage, then it would awesome. If you did the same to a Depeche Mode concert.
RTC is not the only high quality program that ends an era. Troldspejlet who I have at numerous times compared RTC with is also stopping, because Jacob Stegelman has said, that he didn´t want to move to Aarhus, when his family is in Copenhagen. And why is this happening in DR (Danmarks/Denmarks Radio) ? Because, DRs big building complex has cost too much money, and there has to be budget cuts, and other downers. So RTC is not the only show that stops, but also Troldspejlet. So Yakumo this is a coincedence, but a strange. And true one. And a bit of a Deja Vu
Yakumo, I heard about Retro Core's passing over at HG101 last night. Just had to pop in and say thank you for all your hard work and it was definitely quite a run. But life priorities (especially taking care of your baby) is infinitely more important. If I'm lucky, one day it'll happen to me, too. And the same might happen to my website. I guess I'll cross that bridge the day it comes. BTW, the Saturn theatre will roll on, right? (I'm guessing it will because it's not nearly as demanding as Retro Core). In general, you'll still update other sections of your site, right? Just Retro Core been scrapped? (for now anyhow). You've been active with your site updates for many years now. I can only hope that I can say the same for my site. It's nice to see a gaming site owner pour his heart and soul into it, and all too often we see new sites that start out hot, but fade out. Your site IMO is a legend in the business of online gaming pages. Finally, a public thank you for pushing me to create RVGFanatic.com (I haven't really updated it much these past 2 weeks, but a HUGE piece is going to be published this Thursday or Friday...)
