Got to say I absolutely loved the Stratos and the kit version of it. I'd actually done a little research about a year or so ago and been on the Hawk webpage and was thinking of it as a potential project. ...However Jeremy trying to get into and out of it kinda put me off! I'm 6 ft 4 too, so could be a bit of an issue! Was a little disappointed by the computer generated "loop" in the tunnel last night, although it was kinda taking the mickey out of itself anyway. Loved the airport stuff racing though!
Had the latest episode PVR'd but forgot to watch downstairs last night so had a chance to watch it from iPlayer online in my bed via my monitor and i found that it was very watchable, As for the episode i loved the race they had with the airport vehicles and the range rover that was in the studio.
The loop was CG? I guess I was a little tipsy and not very close to the screen. I wouldn't be concerned about getting in and out of a Stratos, it's not really a car you'd be getting in and out of every day. On the other hand, Jeremy's knees were pretty high in the air when sitting inside.
The airport racing was very fun. Guy Ritchie as guest was cool too. Loved how Jeremy trashed the BMW and the Audi. Why they still make stupid cars like that? BMW is even worse, because not only they make the X3 and X5, they decided to do a X5M?! What a waste to use a BMW engine on those things. And that screen on the Range Rover was amazing. Same screen showing different content according to the view position. The ending was WOW!
I'm pretty sure that turn in the tunnel was NOT GC. Watched it back a few times and it seemed pretty real to me. I've seen that Range Rover before too on Fifth Gear's web TV. They actually did a much better feature on it about 1 month ago. Overall it was a pretty good show but the lack of a team challenge sort of made the show feel a little empty I thought. Yakumo
Yeah, it looked shaky enough that it was real. Obviously I doubt Jeremy was driving for that shot, if that's the case. Hey, we can't have an amazing project/challenge every episode! I'm bummed out that there won't be a show next week. I'm also bummed I don't know anyone who would want to shoot a fake Top Gear car review with me (I mean, the whole shebang) around here.
just saw the lancia episode, absoluteley fantastic, im a big fan of italian motors so it really warmed my heart, the stigs lap in the stratos kit car is sureley an alltime great for the show! would of loved to have seen de tomaso on their alltime list tho :katamari:
I could always spend an extraordinary ammount of time driving around my trypod in the middle of a parking lot. But... yeah. Too scary. I'm going to try and do SOME sort of 'film' type thing soon, but not necessarily anything TG-style. Gotta keep the brain working straight with some creative thinking.
Well whatever you do I'm looking forward to it. I wanted to do a powerslide stop in front of the camera but knowing me I'd stop miles away from it or knock it over :noooo:
Shame I don't live in Japan. I don't mind getting hit by a car if it's for a good cause, IE awesome footage. :110:
I watched the newest special the other night and i must say it was one of the best episode's I've seen so far and there wasn't one bit that i never liked. I was really expecting a bog standard show but was like "ok" when i heard it was a special but i'm glad it was
Yes, the special was very good. The best so far, well worth a watch. Forget the sub-par Top Gear we've had this season. All will be forgiven when you see this episode. Yakumo
As in, the test track and the video feature thing? Last thing I've heard... yes, but I certainly haven't checked recently! I hope so.
This was a really great episode and in some ways really topped the Vietnam special. This was the first time watching the show it really seemed like they were on verge of dieing. Really great stuff. I still rank the electric car episode as my top of the season, but this one comes pretty damn close. I agree though this season has been a bit sketchy.
