I'm not surprised it's gran turismo exclusive. They've done a comparison to part 4 to see how realistic it is. Also they have mentioned the developer from time to time when reviewing some cars. I agree though I wish it could of been forza 3. Wonder if the stig will be available to choose as a hired driver.
FYI, the DAF Top Gear track is available for rFactor and GTR2. There's a SIARPC mod for GTR2 too. Quite A fun track, and it seems to be fairly correct time wise with some comparable vehicles. Ryan
Just saw the Bolivia special episode and while it was great, i think it missed something that the African and Vietnam had. On the African one, if someone had their cars broken, they would have to ride on a beetle for the rest of the journey. On the Vietnam, it was an scooter with USA colors and "born in the usa" playing on the highest volume. Also, they didn't had much interaction with the people of Bolivia / Chile, like they did with the people in Botswana / Zimbabwe and the Vietnamese. Anyway, you can't go wrong when Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow get together and have some difficulties. Those guys are extremely funny. And the cars really showed their personallities. Clarkson going with the most powerful and big Range Rover, Hammond with the classic Landcruiser and May with the small, pratical and reliable Suzuki Samurai.
Great episode, much better IMO than Africa and Vietnam, on par with the North Pole episode. Man and his machine vs Nature.
With the area and time and conditions they had it's just not possible to have that same kind of interaction. Plus you must remember that the budget is lower now. So that means less time to shoot funny stuff or fulling around. Plus if you noticed all the locals in less inhabited areas pretty much kept to themselves and did not really like talking or appearing on camera. Also keep in mind the area they were in there were hardly any areas to get any assistance or help. I feel this had to be there most difficult one to pull off do to how the area is, I mean they almost literally died this time.
Well, that was scary. I know interaction wouldn't be a primary concern, since it was mostly men vs. nature, but i mean they mention they stayed on a hotel, both Clarkson and May appear using bolivian hats, they appear having a drink (tea?) on a stop. They could have shown they buying stuff / the hat (like on Vietnam) or something. Again, i'm not saying it wasn't a good episode. It was great!
In the dicription of the show it stated that they had a run in with a drug lord but there was nothing in the show. Could it have been edited out at the last minute?
It was already an hour and a quarter long, perhaps they had a strict times slot. And it was certainly congruent throughout. We can hope that they'll put up some extra content/clips on the website within the next week, like they do sometimes.
I'm curious if they will make a blu ray of this like they did the polar special and show extra footage. I will say though I was surprised that this was 15min over. Is this the only top gear episode to do this?
Man I wish they would release more seasons on DVD/Blu-Ray Right now, only season 10 is officially available in NA. If they could release more than maybe I wouldn't feel so bad about the import fee's and torrent's i have right now! Ryan
Get it! Great episode. Down here we get nothing, NADA. Even BBC World only show 30 minutes of the show (without the news section, interview,...) If they decided to release all seasons on DVD / Blu-ray it would be a big success!
Got it and watched it  Thank you BBC-HD  Fantastic special which was well worth a watch. You can tell Clarkson wasn't happy being pushed in to that freezing water, that's for sure  For me the top specials would be as follows. 1. - Vietnam 2. - Boliva 3. - North Pole 4. - Africa 5. - Japan (mostly because I live here so there wasn't really any WOW factor) Yakumo
Wait for the abuse.......as much as I have been a BIG fan.....I thought the Bolivia episode was spoilt when Hammond got out of his jeep at the top of that hill/dune and it rolled away. If you are still gong to set stuff up....try and be a bit original!!! That one moment started me to believe some of the rumours that it may be pulled soon
They have almost done everything you can think of and due to the way the market is drastically changing and gas prices, a show like this is going to be alot harder to do. I think that episode where I believe Jeremy reviewed that aston martin last season hinted at the difficulty they were going to face to make a show like top gear in the future. I can honestly tell that the low budget has also effected the quality as they have to be tighter with how much footage they shoot and what kind of stuff they do. This episode felt like a regular classic top gear, but the rest of the season has been a mixed bag. Only bolivia, building an electric car, and this one were good. The rest just felt like they were really lacking. Probably the reason they showed that airport segment this season was cause it wasn't really worth showing last season. Don't be surprised if next season is only 5 or 6 episodes.
Yes, that one section was pathetic and was so obvious. As soon as he got out I though "there goes his car down the hill" and sure enough it did. Yakumo
