If you own an Xrgb mini or a scart TV, it would be the better choice.

I'm not really sure that this is modding / hacking, but I'll leave it in here for now ;)

Not that you would, but please don't take pre-orders via this thread. If you want to advertise it on here, make sure you update your Dreamcast devices for sale thread with a validation photo and the price ;)

It is a bit of a shame about the SCART socket. All right-angled SCART sockets were that way round - you really needed to either design it with the connector on the other side, or use a chassis mounting socket. It will be a deal breaker to some - cable management is considered quite important nowadays and I know I'd be irked with them sticking out all over the place like that. Perhaps it's something to consider for a future revision.

By the way, those flat SCART cables suck ;)

Thanks for your comments. I think using a scart connector with the opposite angle can force the console too much and pull the cord from its plug which causes improper or no operation of the cable. I tested standard simpler black cables too, works better, more flexible than the thick one in the photo. Also it's really difficult for me to find these connectors. You can also use the VGA connector (for the RGBS Csync output) with the XRGB, though you need a custom cable for that.

This is not a preorder thread, It's not launched yet. I will take orders from my site. When it's launched, I will sure put a validation photo. I sent them to the testers only. It will be launched next week.

IMHO this device should also have a 8pin midi-din for use with the framemeister with a 1:1 cable

keropi, is right. rather than having a Scart port, it is much better to have the 8pin midi-din. That way, users don't have to buy additional cables.

Where can I find that 1:1 cable? Thanks for your advice. The advantage of using Scart is for the Europeans, you can plug it directly to the TV to play Scart only PAL games(15khz) like Skies of Arcadia...

^ no idea of a good pre-made 8pin cable but these are the ports for it: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Pcs-Rep...?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item43bea4e496
I just get these male connectors and make my own cables...

Here is the framemeister pinout: http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=av:micomsoft_xrgb-mini_framemeister

Basically, if you take the RGB lines from the VGA port , add the 2 audio lines and use a combined H+V sync signal, then the mini will display happily both 15 and 31khz RGBs signals.
The only extra thing is the sync combiner which is very simple. I have modified my vga box , you can see the WIP HERE, I am pretty sure you'll understand what I did :)

Epharisto ! I will consider using it on the future products.
Nice mod! I tried that design before, Darcagn helped me too.
Kenzei and Toro uses a unique design, different than those found on the net. I preferred to design it from the ground up.

Ahhh, so I need a male to male scart box to use with the Toro? I have one but the pins are too shallow to make proper contact with the switch box I use. Guess I'll have to try my luck with another cable

I agree that a mini din socket for connection directly to the XRGB Mini would be a nice feature, as for xrgb users there would be more cables in the link thus producing a weaker signal??.....

    DreamCast>>>>TORO>>>>Scart cable>>>>XRGB-Mini Scart adapter>>>>XRGB-Mini>>>>LCD TV

It depends on the cable length and quality. Everyone is using like that, even adding scart switches.

price will be reasonable, 1+1 won't be 2.:)
