TORO - Advanced Video Box for the Dreamcast!

I support too the idea of a product that would connect to DC and then directly to Xrgb mini.
I think that would sell well, since more and more people own one and TV are all dropping VGA ports. :-(

 

Next version will still have the Scart connector, I solved the sourcing problem.

I've just ordered a Toro and I'll be getting a XRGB-Mini from Japan very soon. May you please help confirm if the following connections are correct:

1. Toro (Euro SCART F) > SCART M-to-M cable > retrogamingcables.co.uk's Euro SCART F to XRGB-Mini 8Din > XRGB-Mini

2. Toro (Euro SCART F) > SCART M-to-M cable > retrogamingcables.co.uk's Euro SCART F to JP21 SCART M cable > XRGB-Mini bundled cable > XRGB-Mini

Or may you please suggest other, best, shortest solution?

I am offering euro scart (male) to mini din cables, I use a high quality shielded VGA cable (around 1.5m)
this can be the shortest solution.

 

And you'll sell me one.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what would the advantage of this over a Hanzo be? Is this only for using with things like the XRGB mini? Would the video quality be better with this and the Hanzo

 

Yeah, it's for upscalers (XRGB) and Scart TVs, same video quality. So if you have one you can play 15khz RGB only games too.

 

I live in the US and my TV has all the usual inputs, and I have no plan or intent to get an XRGB... so the Hanzo would give me the same video quality as the Toro if I was hooking it up to the VGA on my TV?

Just curious, what was the reason to leave out the scanline thickness feature from the Hanzo?

No need for the thick lines when you are playing in the standard 480p resolution of the DC, it's intended to be used on a higher resolution (1024x768) when the regular scanlines disappear. You can use that switch when you use the Hanzo as a scanliner for other consoles/PC or upscalers. Also some marketing reasons. If we offered every feature that the Hanzo+Kenzei does in a single box with a lower price, then everybody who purchased them before would complain about that. Also Kenzei is a very useful device with the RCA jacks for the owners of those Sony pro monitors.

I ordered one Toro on 8 november.
I think I will receive it in your next batch.
I don't remember if I ordered a flat scart cable with the Toro.
I search through my mail box but I think I delete the order confirmation.
Can you look about it if possible?

 

Sorry for the delay. Although the boards were shipped via EMS, there is a delay because of the XMAS. We will begin to ship the orders from next week probably. I added the Scart cable available to purchase after Adam Koralik's review, many asked for that cable. No you didn't order one.
