There's stuff that interested me from the beginning, like...

    Biohazard 1.5 (!!!)
    Biohazard 3.5
    Biohazard Zero N64
Duke Nukem 3D post-'Lameduke' but pre-v0.99 beta (PC)
Shadow Warrior Beta (before it's massive revision)
Super Mario 64, from the early screenshots
Starfox 64, from the early screenshots
    Rayman, SNES
Metropolis Street Racer (pre-licensed cars build, early screens), Dreamcast
    Shadowman, from early screens
    Final Fantasy VII, N64 builds/tests
Zelda OOT, from the early screens
Super Catlevania IV, from early footage
Metal Gear Solid, Techdemo, early build from early screens and footage
    ....

    ....

Unreal betas, namely any 1996 and 1997 versions, or different than the two resurfaced leaked versions, which was the 95 tech demo and 98 February beta demo leak.
There were few others leaked as well but never found again, two of them were released by Release on Rampage in 1996 and there was other 1997 full beta leaked as well, but never resurfaced.

Also any Unreal 2 betas are interesting as well, in exception for the already known alpha 2001 E3 tech demo.

Do you happen to remember where this interview came from? Never heard of that, and it definitely sounds awesome yet unfortunate they couldn't provide the complete experience... I just wonder how much work was done that had to be cut.

Add to that the polygonal remake of Adventure of Link for SNES.

A proto of parappa the rapper would be amazing.
Or any early E3 Demo disk would be just as good :p

I believe FF64 was just a tech demo and never actually went anywhere, although I'm not a Squaresoft of Japan employee so I couldn't say for sure.

It was never on the 64. I don't know why people keep up with that.

I think he was talking about the Final Fantasy tech demo they showed for the N64 before the decision was made to develop FF7 on the PS.

I would say my holy grail in gaming would probably be Shenmue for the Saturn. It pushes the hardware so beyond the (previously thought) limits that I must see it running in stock hardware to actually believe this is true. Also, it would be sweet if someone uncovered Ico (Playstation version) and Dinosaur Planet (Nintendo 64 version).

All these games, however, have been released for other platforms. The only "true" unreleased game I would love to have played is Monika no Shiro, for the Sega Saturn. I know about the rumors of a demo disc. I hope someone still has this disc and someday it may surface.

    1. Any Secret of Mana build that would include was what removed on the SNES version.

    2. Any Killer Instinct (Arcade) early prototype where Cinder was named Meltdown and other characters had their early name.

    3. Any Killer Instinct 1 prototype that would have been produced on the Nintendo 64.

    4. Super Mario World (Alpha) where the graphics look like Mario Bros 3.

    5. Any version of Final Fantasy VII that would show alternate side of the story. (By looking at the files on the discs, it is possible to see that some events were originally planned at another location).

    6. Mother 3 and Mother 3.5 :)

Currently on the lookout for footage from the beta version of Blur, before they cut the story elements from the game (as seen in the teaser trailer for the game).

Pics? I'd be interested in seeing this! I've spent quite a lot of time with SMW and Lunar Magic so I'm increasingly more fond of SMW, would be interesting to see differences that go this far!

This site mentions "Beta" but at that stage, the game would look as final product so I would say "Pre-Alpha / Early Alpha".

They arent fake, but someone did "remake" the beta, which is obviously a hacked version of the final game with some older features.

The sprites appears to be in this test cartridge. I don't think this would be fake.

It is quite common to use the assets of your current game to start developing a "sequel".

No, I'm not suggesting the images are fake, sorry if it came across that way, I'm just pointing out that it would be easy to fake given the ease in which SMW can be hacked and edited.

TCRF does a pretty good breakdown of one of the SNES Test Cartridges here.
